i have been craving bacon, but i guess no more than usual

1.
Meredith changed her birthday plans to Friday…so I made plans with Brian to leave way too early in the morning on Saturday and drive to Metropolis to watch the Dippin Dots eating contest :-) It’s my first “road trip” of the year! Superman Museum here I come!

2.
Rumors are flying: Verizon and Apple may be in talks about an iPhone. I am way too excited about that because I want an iphone but do not want to leave Verizon for AT&T.
Oh, but Microsoft might release a phone codenamed “Pink.” I think I need to get one on principle.

3.
I think I have swine flu. I have all the symptoms.

4.
I told my financial panther that I wanted to take all of my money out of pork and invest it in face masks. He didn’t get it.

5.
If it is true that Canon rebates will be announced next week consider my tax refund spent.

6.
I probably shouldn’t take life advice from random people on Twitter, but one of my fav wedding photographers posted this the other day: “How phenomenal would every business/personal interaction be if we were all doing what we love for a living?” I agree.

7.
I have decided that I need my life to be some sort of combination of these guys and these guys. I should probably find a female role model so lets throw in some of her talent too.

8.
I have been very good and posted at least once (sometimes 2 or 3 times) in Silly America this month. I now just have to design the site. Motivation Val. Motivation. The good news is that the more I blog in it the more I want to blog in it. The bad news is that I don’t have that much content in reserves to last me more than half a year at that pace…although some would argue that that is a lot of content :-)

9.
I want to take guitar lessons.

10.
Matt went home on Idol. boohoo. Adam was in the bottom three and I laughed and laughed and laughed. I think Eric has officially won my $5.

camera beer! camera beer!

Sunday was Wednesday Lunch at Murphy’s. You heard me.

A bunch of us met there for lunch. In a nice coincidence Murphy’s is also celebrating their 40th anniversary this year too!

I got a bacon cheeseburger but in retrospect I do not think there was any bacon on it. LAME. It was still delicious.

A ton of the Wednesday lunchers/KCSAers showed up and it was awesome to keep catching up!

Jeff showed up! I was happy because I never see Jeff and it was the first time I got to see him that weekend! AND he gave me a copy of Horsemen of the Esophagus which he found at a used bookstore. Jeff kind of rocks.

Sid just got a new waterproof camera. He decided that, obviously, the best way to test out if it was, in fact, waterproof would be to drop it in a mug of beer and chug it. Obviously.

It was actually pretty awesome. And he has some video and he posted it to Facebook and hopefully I can get him to put it on youtube or something so I can post it here…

We stayed until the end of the insane Bulls game which went into double overtime. How does that one dude even play with that much hair?

And then it was time to say goodbye and end the gluttonous festivities of our KCSA reunion weekend. It was a fun weekend of catching up with old friends and reliving old times. Hopefully it won’t be another 40 years until we can do it again :-)

i’d like a beer with my pancakes

Saturday night the KCSA after party began with a late night trip to Courier Cafe. We had an insane amount of people (18) and I don’t think the wait staff was very happy about that. I caught up a bit with Kristie and Chris and Caroline jumped into the twentieth century by finally getting a cell phone.

She called Kate at the other end of the table and it took some goading after three tries to get her to answer the phone from the number she didn’t recognize.

I got myself a chocolate shake and an order of skinny dippers which definitely won’t keep you skinny. But they are damned delicious.

Afterwards most people left but me and Jen and Andrew and Doug and Paul and Brian headed over to Crane Alley for a drink. They had a pomegranate shake-up drink that was soooo good. Andrew got a breakfast beer but was not allowed to drink it until after midnight because then we determined it would be acceptable.

Brian had a few Mountain Dews with Grenadine. At one point he remarked that he only had three…”oh, and the two at Courier.” I don’t think he slept that night.

draw 7 cards, play them all

After the party I headed back to Sarah’s place and hung out with her and Sid and Glen and Jen and Andrew and Glen and Jen. Sid and Glen failed at installing a playstation or xbox or something while Sarah made a delicious fruit salad. Then we played a game that had both no rules and the weirdest rules possible and was either about zombies or not. I still don’t understand it. Andrew won but I am not certain of how.

happy 40th krannert center!

Saturday afternoon I headed over to Krannert for the first time since graduating. It was time to gather for the 40th reunion of the Krannert Center Student Association. Back in college I was the marketing director for two years and president for one of KCSA, the organization that does all of the ushering and tours and several big events at the Krannert Center in Urbana.

For the 40th anniversary they invited all of the alumni back for a party! A lot of old friends came back for it, including Cornie and Jinna who I haven’t seen since graduating!

It was fun, they had Mike Ross and some others give speeches and there was food memorabilia and some good ole fashioned catching up. What was odd was that there seemed to be a lot of people there from the first ten years of KCSA (including the first 6 presidents!) and a lot of people from when I was there and not a lot in between or after. Crazy. I guess it is lucky that I was there when I was when everyone was so dedicated to Krannert. It was an amazing organization and I made so many friends from there.

First ten presidents.

Presidents from my generation.

After the party we broke into the KCSA office because Doug still has a key. It was fun to point out all the stuff that was still there (the dying pig and futon) and all the stuff that we’d put up. For the record, my voice is still on the answering machine message.

It was a great little get together and was so great catching up with people from the past! Can’t wait for the 50th anniversary!
