pretty in pink

1. I am never going to find a place I want to live. I always get so excited and then I get off of the highway and look around and start shaking and crying. It isn't so much the apartments I see, it's the areas. Everything seems so dirty and lonely. And then I think about all the people who will probably never come visit :(

2. I saw a truck fall over on the highway today. I was looking at it as it was driving on the curved road that merged onto the highway. All of a sudden it just tipped and completely fell over. It was rather surreal because it just kind of happened. I was very happy because I have never seen a road accident before.

3. So I was out and about and wanted to find ski pants for a ski trip in a few weeks. I went to REI and found a really cute ski coat that was lavender with sparkly polkadots and a grey furry collar! It cost $270. I then went to Dick's and found powder pink ski pants with rhinestones! Those cost $230. On the way home I went to Sports Authority and actually bought a cute pair of pink ski pants and a matching ski jacket that is brown with pink piping that was not only way way way cheaper to begin with, was also on clearance! So I would be pretty and pink on the ski slopes...if I was going. When I got home I was told that unlike what I was told earlier (when I said the other day that I couldn't take off of work I was told they were just going over the weekend) they were actually leaving earlier on the Friday, so I can't go :( I'll just sit all alone in my room in my pretty pink pants :(

but nothing's checked off

Things I did this week in line with my 100 goals:

1. I looked at an apartment, but didn't like the location.

4. I dyed my hair blonde, but it didn't do anything.

36. I watched the first six episodes of the first season of Fraggle Rock (not technically a cartoon, but it counts as part of this goal)

51. I am halfway through Middlesex (2003 Pulitzer Prize winner). I also made a list of the 80 books that have won the Pulitzer and picked out the first 10 that I will read.

52. I bought a copy of A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius

54.-58. I've kept up with writing at least 300 words a day :) Worked a bit on the memoir, a random YA novel, an article, and some essays.

67. Started drafting a letter to a publishing house to ask for an editing test.

71. Started designing my first freelance website.

72. Uploaded 18 CDs onto my Ipod.

74. Started looking into localish places to go for snowboarding, unfortunately everything is closed right now because it is too warm.

85. Baked Oatmeal-Cherry Cookies

i guess i'm insane

Reason One Why I am Insane:

I don't think that I am ever going to find a place to live for the sole fact that I do not want to move into a neighborhood that is cold and snowy.

I know that this is completely irrational. It is December in Chicago. Everything is cold and snowy. But that that is how my mind works. I can't get over it though. I hate everything I see because I keep thinking this apartment is cold and there is snow outside.

I went to look at some Lincoln Square apartments today. I didn't see anything good though. In theory, I really like this area :) Especially just right around the main square. Hopefully I will get over my weirdness and just move already.

Reason Two Why I am Insane:

I was talking to Scott about how I need a boyfriend because I need someone to cuddle with right now. He told me to get a teddy bear. I told him I needed a boy to give me a teddy bear.

And now, my theory on stuffed animals...

If you are to buy a girl a stuffed animal it has to be the right size. It can't be huge because that is just tacky. It can't be too small or the girl can't hold it while she sleeps. For instance Hood once gave me a little monkey named PeeWee who, while I loved, it was in fact a peewee and was too small to hold while I slept.
I had been sleeping with the same stuffed monkey for the last 6-7 years. It was a build-a-bear monkey that mood like a cow when you pressed its paw. I finally retired it a few months ago though because the guy who gave it to me is an ass and I am finally at the point where I am completely over it all. Those build-a-bear people are geniuses though because they made their amnimals the right size for sleeping.

Scott told me that it was OK for me to buy my own stuffed animal to sleep with. I then went deeper into my theory...

Stuffed animals are only good if they come from a boy because they are not just good for cuddling with they are also good for talking to. If you have a stuffed animal given to you by a boy, you can talk to it about that boy. You can talk to that stuffed animal about that boy and the animal will understand because it will also know the boy (because it will have spent some time with him at the checkout counter, at his place, in his car, etc.). If I buy one for myself, no matter what I tell it, that amnimal will just not understand. :(

pickyval

I'm too picky. Seriously.

I went to look at apartments today.
I saw 4.

The first one I thought looked really nice. It had nice floors and new appliances including a dishwasher. I actually really liked the place but it is in Buena Park and I know nothing about that area.

The second one I saw was in Lakeview and was OK but kind of old and the kitchen was crappy.

The third one was in Roscoe Village, amazingly huge, had a dishwasher and washer and dryer in the unit. It was pretty cheap too, way under priced. But I thought it was really ugly.

The fourth one was also in Roscoe Village and horribly crappy looking.

Yeah, I am way too picky. But really, since I am not homeless at the moment and figure I will be living in this place for at least 2-3 years I have every right to be picky.

I think I might look a little further north in the Lincoln Square area.

I guess it is back to the drawing board...

neighborhooding

I went around Chicago this morning looking at neighborhoods to figure out where I want to move. I looked at Wicker Park, Bucktown, Roscoe Village, Lakeview (I didn't really look at Lakeview because I already know it pretty well), and Andersonville. I think I am pretty much settled on Roscoe, or Lakeview towards that area. I like that it is really clean and quiet, but is still really close to some shops and restaurants (I ate lunch at Kitsch'n and had coconut crusted French toast. Yummy.) and the el and such. Plus, walking around I actually saw a lot of parking! Hopefully the same will be true at night...and when the Cubs are playing. There is even a wine bar there, so hopefully peeps will join me for some wine :)

Now I just need to find a place to move into...

I then came home and packed more, hehe. I cleaned out three drawers in my dresser where I keep makeup, hairstuff, facestuff, nailstuff etc. I found that I have eight makeup bags that were mostly empty and all my stuff was loose around the drawers. I organized it and got rid of about half the stuff. Go purging!
