cicadas - day 21
Only one crappy one today. I was running late in the morning, and running late after work. This bugger was doing some crazy little arm movements, but he stopped when I tried to take his picture :(

dude was on my porch. June 5, 2007cicadas - day 14
Between running late for the train, starting work a half hour early, and then not returning home from school until after 10, on top of rain that prevented cicadas from really coming out, I didn't get to take any pics yesterday :( So, enjoy this pic that I took a few days ago instead. he has brown eyes :) May 31, 2007cicadas - day 10May 30, 2007May 29, 2007cicadas - day 8May 28, 2007May 27, 2007cicadas - day 6Today's adventure included my getting lost trying to find my elementary school (I totally thought it was somewhere else...), taking pics at the park where I first remember seeing the cicadas (I remember being outside for recess or gym class, it was "opposite day" at school and I was wearing pants I'd fashioned to have one shorts leg and one long leg and a similar style shirt), and running into a guy who wants me to join his camera club. May 26, 2007May 25, 2007cicadas - day 4May 24, 2007May 23, 2007May 22, 2007they're he-ereThe cicadas are here! Am I the only crazy daisy who is thrilled?!?! I have been waiting SEVENTEEN YEARS for these suckers to re-emerge! So, of course, for the next month or so when the cicadas take over the world, I will be following them around with my camera snapping away. So far, I've only seen a few, but soon there will literally be MILLIONS. They pop up from the middle of the earth, shed their skin, mate, cast off the highest pitch noise you'll ever hear from a buggie, then disappear back into the ground or another 17 years. Crazy. Soon everything is going to look and sound like death, and I'm ready and waiting... |
