public service announcement

My regularly scheduled blogging has been interrupted by the fact that photoshop and dreamweaver have completely stopped working and will not reinstall on my computer. So I can't edit or post photos right now. How the hell am I going to survive? I suppose I could blog without photos. But really, what good is talking about going to the gay pride halloween parade without posting photos?

Hopefully adobe will come back to me with a solution soon or I can figure out something. Because I have photo-worthy events taking place every night over the next four days. And I get antsy when my blog isn't up-to-date with my life. And I am going insane trying to fix this.

Not that anyone else will miss me.

Consider this a vacation from my insanity (while I go completely insane trying to figure this out).

This has been a public service announcement from the val network.

Dear homeless people,
Please do not beg me to give you money with a Starbucks cup.
McDonald's would be OK.
Love,
Val

Dear hotlinkers,
Please do not hotlink images from my site.
It is a shady thing to do.
If you do I will change the photos to this. (nsfw)
Love,
Val

p.s. that image is used when I am being nice.
p.p.s. No Rob, I do not want to see worse pictures I could use.

Speaking of Starbucks...girl just gave me a pumpkin latte with no espresso in it. It's just warm pumpkin milk. :(

did you miss me?

woohoo! the blog is back...mostly. I still have to go through and make sure all of the correct images are uploaded, and there are still a lot of pages not up yet, but it should be all rolling soon. I think all my entries are here...If I had lost my blog I think I would seriously have started crying and not stopped for at least four months, maybe forever.

Yeah, so to all 2 of you who may have come to my site in the last day and a half I am sure you either found it completely gone or looking all weird or, even worse, looking all generic. Rest assured there was nothing wrong (not that you thought there was).

I was using about 95% of my webspace and took 145 photos on Saturday. I decided that meant that I should probably switch hosting. So now I am with a new company and pay less than what I was paying before for 6 times the space :) Yayval! That just meant I had to back up everything, take it all down, wait for my new server to kick in and now get everything back up. Slowly but surely it is getting there.

Not that anyone really reads about my boring life anyways.

Anyways, as soon as I am done setting up I will post tons of pics and a recap from the first weekend in which I had human interaction in a month (Yay for JoeJoe being in town. He is my only friend).

new hair, new dress, new camera

Meet the new love of my life :)
newcamera.jpg

I bought a new camera today.

It's a 10.1 megapixel Canon Digital Rebel XTi Digital SLR (plus a 4gig memory card!)

It was kind of on a whim, but not really because I'd been planning on buying it for a while. Circuit City had it on sale (well, the website had it listed for $65 less, but it was full price at the store - they sold it to me at the website price though) and had a 2-year warranty that covered accidental damage for $100 less than Ritz's (with a camera, I really wanted the protection if I drop it).

I stopped at Fry's first and was happy because they were the first store I had been to that actually had the cameras out and set up so you could use them. So, I finally got to check out what the camera actually was like to use. I took a few pics of signs, then looked around for something else and saw Scott in the same aisle as me. "Hmm", thought Val, "I should take a pic of Scott and see if he notices." So, I focus on Scott and take his picture. Scott looks up and thinks "why is this crazy person taking my picture? Wait, I know this crazy person." Hehe, Scott was also looking for a camera as his was stolen :(

Alas, Fry's camera was full price and their warranty didn't cover any accidental damage, so I did not buy it. Instead I went to Target and bought some blonde hair dye and a cute little sun dress. So, my hair is now blonde(r) and getting to the color I want for it to be and I am dressed as if it is 70 degrees warmer than it is (see pic above). But later I saw the deal on the Rebel at Circuit City and decided to go there and just go for it. By deal I mean I still spent more than anyone should ever spend on a camera, but I am in love with it and I don't care. :)

(in other news, I think I [finally after over a year] fixed the 'remember personal info' check box on the comments pages, so if you leave a comment, check it and hopefully it will save you from having to retype your name/email/website each time you comment)
